Dalian Medical University is situated to the north of the picturesque Xinghai Park and nestled at the foot of the hills and facing the sea. Founded in 1947, as one of the key universities affiliated to Liaoning Province, Dalian Medical University has become a comprehensive medical university showcasing training in multiple disciplines at both undergraduate and graduate level.

The university encompasses 15 second-class institutes, 5 education departments, 1 computer & internet center, 4 affiliated hospitals, nearly 100 teaching bases for clinical education or practice and 1 affiliated nursing school.With the total number of teaching staff, doctors and nurses beyond 4,000, among whom 230 are professors, 500 are associate professors. The total number of enrolled student is up to nearly 12,000, among whom 1500 are in PhD programs and MS programs, around 10,000 are in the undergraduate program and in junior college, and around 200 foreign students from international countries and regions (including Japan, Korea, America, Russia, Uganda and Zambia, Nepal, Indian, Pakistan ), Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao. 

While at DMU, undergraduates can choose from 20 different majors and major approaches, including a 7-year Course on Clinical Medicine. Students have the option of pursuing M.A. degree in 29 areas, and Ph. D¡¯s in 4 disciplines. The teaching condition is superior, with complete education facilities. There is a more than 5,096 m2 squared library, which resources include 400,000 books on various disciplines and over 1,500 Chinese and foreign journals .It is also equipped with a multi-media learning area, an advanced electronic reading room, and a digital bibliographic retrieval and medical library connected to the local network.

Dalian Medical University¡¯s 4 affiliated hospitals are distributed throughout the city of Dalian, three of which are approved as the ¡°Triple A level Hospitals in China¡± by the National Health Department, and house over 5,000 patient beds. The 1st Affiliated Hospital is the largest comprehensive education hospital and emergency center in southern Liaoning Province. The 2nd Affiliated Hospital is one of the first hospitals to be enrolled within the International Rescue & Emergency Net by the International Culture Exchanging Center, under the National Health Department.The 3rd affiliated hospital is located in Dalian Economy Technology Development Zone, which is expert in cosmetology. The 4th affiliated hospital was originally named as Dalian railway hospital).

The international communications of the University are becoming active and extensive, with the establishment of partnerships with more than 40 universities, institutes, and corresponding organizations in the USA, Japan, UK and Germany. Our university has established long-term training and cultural exchange programs with Japan, Britain, German, U.S., and Korea, etc.
